====== Free Worlds Alliance ======

===== background =====
The Free Worlds (originally Seven Worlds Defensive) Alliance is a collection of independent systems in quadrant one. The original seven systems involved in the alliance are [[:universe:7wda:Killiekrankie]], Pratt, Nose, Gat, [[:universe:7wda:Lamster]], Damper and Radhakrishnan. Ankh joined in 3207 and the alliance was subsequently re-named. 

===== Defensive Fleets =====
The combined force available to the alliance is split into two fleets, based at Killiekrankie and Pratt with naval HQ on [[:universe:7wda:Lamster]]. It is armed with nukes from the Pratt nuclear weapons facility and staffed with marines from the Marine Training Centre at Damper. 

==== Western Flotilla ====
The Western flotilla is under command of Admiral Darnley (a krankie) formally titled 'Commodore West' and comprises of 4 C5A, 1 EVI and a C5 logistics vessel. 

==== Eastern Flotilla ====
The Eastern Flotilla is under the command of Admiral Neb (Nosey) formally titles 'Commodore East' and comprises of 5 C5A, 1 EVI and 1 C5 logistics vessel. 

==== HQ Flotilla ====
There is a small flotilla of 2 C1A (both equipped with a one-shot pacifier) nand a C5 logistics vessel based at the Naval HQ on [[:universe:7wda:Lamster]]. Overall command of the fleet is on a rotating basis from each of the seven worlds. 

===== The Worlds =====
==== Killiekrankie ====
[[:universe:7wda:Killiekrankie]] has a below average economy which provides a surplus of 10 SV each year, most of its settlers came from Earth. Typically the government invest 8SV back into the economy and support a navy of two C5A under the command of Admiral Darnley. The vessels are called //Bonny Charlie// and //Old Pretender//. President Stuart has commited the entire navy to the 7WDA defensive fleet as part of the Western Flotilla which [[:universe:7wda:Killiekrankie]] in in command.  More background on [[:universe:7wda:Killiekrankie]] is available.

==== Pratt ====
Pratt is has an average economy mainly settled from MAFC systems. They currently host a nuclear weapons facility that provides nukes to all members of the alliance. They also contribute an EVI, C5A, C5, 2 C1A and a Planetary Guard Division. 

==== Nose ====
Nose has an average economy and was mostly settled from UOX systems. Nose provides the Commodore East (Admiral Neb) as well as an EVI, C5A and C5 logistics vessel. They also have a Police Divsion. 

==== Gat ====
Gat is an average economy and was mostly settled from GFA systems. The system is protect by a SBHEWS, a Planetary Guard Division and an Internal Security Division. They contirbute a C5A and a C5 to the alliance fleet. 

==== Lamster ====
[[:universe:7wda:Lamster]] has a very poor economy and is a former member of the Centauri Conglomerate. As the centre of the seven systems geographically it hosts the Naval HQ. This is protected by a Militia Division. [[:universe:7wda:Lamster]] contribute a C5A to the alliance fleet. 

==== Damper ====
Mainly colonised from SSR systems, Damper is the home of the alliance's Marine Training Centre and is supplying marines to all vessels in the alliance fleet. It also contributes a C5A. 

==== Radhakrishnan ====
Colonised from RNV systems. It has a C5A and a Militia Division. 

==== Recent events: ====
In 3206 the SWDA acquired its first professionally built warship, a hired CVI named (//Starbuck//). On 3207.200, the planet of Ankh signed the SWDA Treaty. Shortly afterwards, on 3207.231 High Admiral Jackson, the former head of the SWDA military, was elected Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers, based on his tough, no-nonsense reputation. He began to hire more professionally built warships. At the [[:universe:7wda:lamconf|Lamster Conference]] in late 3207, the SWDA was renamed the Free Worlds Alliance.

==== Fleets ====
Garrisons: Each planet is protected by an interstellar destroyer. These destroyers are fast enough to chase down pirates. 
Central fleet: Central fleet is the main striking power of the FWA fleet. It was this force that executed Operation PANAMA It includes a carrier (//Starbuck//), a battleship (//Founder//) a heavy cruiser, a destroyer, a C1AS and two C5 for logistics support. It is slated to eventually include another destroyer. 
Transportation command: Transportation command is comprised of an ALSI and a C5 for logistics support. 
Reserves: The FWA has an LSSI in mothballs at Gat and a mothballed C5A at Radhakrishnan. 
==== Other Forces====
Ground Forces: The FWA army comprises one Ground Force Brigade, the FWA Rapid Reaction Brigade. It is transported by a hired ALSI. The FWA Marine Corps also has an Independent Marine Regiment. This regiment was sent to Lon Chaney (although it did not see combat) and oversaw ground security for the Lamster conference.
Local Defensive forces: Ground troops not under FWA command include five militia divisions, two ISDs and two Ground Force Divisions. Of particular note is the Prattian army (GFD). A battalion of the Prattian army saw combat at Lon Chaney, with a handfull of troopers being wounded.
Missile Program: The FWA missile program is composed of Interplanetary Interdiction missiles and is currently stationed on Killikrankie. Other information is classified. 
Intelligence Service: FWA intelligence was previously considered quite poor, but Jackson has invested an SV in the service and brought in UoX advisors to improve it.
===Independence Yards:=== 
The FWA is constructing a shipyard at Damper. It is the first military shipyard built outside of the 'big eight' and the first shipyard of any kind built outside of Q0. The FWA is not bound by the agreements that prevent the 'big eight' powers from building shipyards outside of Q1, so it is perfectly legal. The FWA is spending almost as much on the shipyard as the cost of planetary defense for all eight worlds.
